GWC played a winning role in Qatar’s hosting of the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup. We proudly became the official national supporter in November 2019, and the action-packed tournament took place from December 11 to 21 at three venues in Qatar, ending with Liverpool FC taking home the trophy.
In a thrilling twist of fate, the momentous day arrived for GWC as we were unveiled as the regional supporter and official logistics maestro for the World Cup 2022. Years of accumulated knowledge and a robust infrastructure were poised to burst into dynamic action, marking a milestone in the history book of GWC’s journey.
GWC played a pivotal role in delivering the FIFA Club World Cup 2020TM, which was delayed due to COVID-19. This meant extra precautions were required to protect fans, players and officials and led to GWC implementing bubble-to-bubble health and safety procedures at the request of both the host country and tournament organizers. This edition of the tournament was won by German side Bayern Munich.
The FIFA Arab Cup served as the ultimate rehearsal before Qatar 2022, featuring 16 competing teams across six vibrant stadiums. GWC played a pivotal role in the meticulous preparations and flawless execution of the event. Algeria emerged victorious in the tournament, drawing cheers from over 500,000 enthusiastic fans in attendance.
GWC commemorated the 500 days to go milestone at Al Bayt Stadium, the prestigious venue for the opening match and ceremony of Qatar 2022. The event was uniquely celebrated with a meticulously arranged fleet of trucks, symbolically representing the countdown to this momentous occasion. The 500-day countdown, showcased in this innovative display, added an extra layer of significance to the journey towards Qatar 2022, creating a truly memorable and impactful experience.
A year before the much-anticipated kickoff, GWC proudly hosted the FIFA World Cup Winner’s Trophy at our regional logistics hub in Ras Bu Fontas Free Zone and Logistics Village Qatar—the largest privately owned logistics hub in the region.
